Your Scion FR-S (2013-2016) is a sports coupe — and in San Diego County there is always another buyer for one that runs. Skip the listing, the messages, and the no-shows: one intake, one clear offer, free pickup.
The offer we make is the offer you get for 7 days.*
The price holds as long as the vehicle, title, mileage, and condition match what you submitted. If hidden or unreported damage is found at pickup, we’ll make the adjustment and give you a counter-offer on the spot — and the decision is yours.

Common FR-S problems we still buy
Valve spring recall on 2013 cars
Early FR-S engines were recalled for valve springs that could fracture and cause engine damage, and some repaired engines later suffered failures linked to the repair procedure. Documentation of who did the recall work matters, and uncertainty about it is a common reason owners sell.
Throw-out bearing chirp and failure
Manual FR-S cars are well documented for clutch release (throw-out) bearing chirping that progresses to bearing failure if ignored, sometimes damaging the transmission snout. The repair requires dropping the gearbox, and that labor bill is frequently the moment an owner decides to sell.
Fuel pump chirp and coil pack faults
The direct-injection high-pressure fuel pump is famous for a crickets-like chirping noise on these engines, and ignition coil packs fail with heat and mileage, causing misfires. Neither fault is catastrophic, but both are persistent annoyances that wear down owners of a weekend car.
Cam plate and engine oil leaks
The flat-four leaks oil from the rear cam carrier plate and other seals, dripping onto the exhaust and producing a burning smell in the cabin. Resealing involves significant disassembly for a small part, and owners quoted for it on an aging coupe often sell instead.
Every one of these is a condition answer on the form — report it and it is priced in from the start, never discovered at pickup.
How selling your FR-S works here
01
Tell us about the car
Year, make, model, mileage, and where it sits. A VIN speeds things up but is not required to start, and the pickup address tells us which local run the car joins.
02
Answer 12 condition questions
Wheels, battery, key, whether it starts and drives, the catalytic converter, and the rest — the same checklist our buyer verifies in person, so the offer is built on the car you actually have.
03
Get one clear offer
We review every application by hand and send one offer, guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description. Accept it and pickup is free anywhere in San Diego County.
What we buy — your FR-S included
Most 2010-and-newer cars
Sedans, SUVs, and vans from any maker, clean or with fixable issues.
Fixable issues welcome
Battery, glass, panels, and exterior damage from the 12-point checklist — each priced in plainly.
Trucks of any age
Pickups are the top of our want list — working trucks, high-mileage trucks, Japanese trucks included.
Japanese vehicles of any age
Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru hold up in Southern California, and we price them that way.
Where the line is
We buy the cars the big guys reject — but we are not a junk buyer. These fall outside this buying program, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time:
No working key
Blown engine
Shot transmission
Major structural damage
Heavily stripped
Trash-filled or severely neglected
The FR-S generations we buy
The FR-S was the Scion-badged version of the jointly developed Toyota-Subaru rear-drive coupe, sold 2013-2016 with a 2.0L Subaru flat-four using Toyota direct and port injection, a six-speed manual or automatic, and a standard limited-slip differential on manual cars. It is mechanically the Subaru BRZ's twin. When Scion closed in 2016, the car continued as the Toyota 86, so the FR-S badge covers only these four model years.
Manual FR-S cars are the ones San Diego buyers hunt; automatics sit longer and price lower. State any engine work plainly, especially whether the 2019 valve spring recall was completed on a 2013 car, because that paperwork follows every early FR-S sale.
FR-S seller questions
How much is my FR-S worth?
It comes down to the individual car: year, mileage, trim, and the 12 condition answers. We review every application by hand and send one clear offer, guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description — no automated lowball and no haggling at the curb.
What FR-S years do you buy?
We buy Scion FR-S vehicles across the 2013-2016 range we commonly see, and we will look at older ones case by case. Condition matters more than the year — a high-mileage FR-S that starts, drives, and has a working key is exactly what the form is for.
My FR-S has valve spring recall on 2013 cars. Will you still buy it?
In most cases, yes — that is a known FR-S issue and it is priced into the offer from the condition answers you submit, not discovered at pickup. Describe it honestly and the offer already reflects it.
Do you buy a FR-S that failed smog?
Yes. Smog failure is one of the 12 condition answers, so the offer accounts for it up front. You do not need to pay for diagnosis, repairs, or a retest before pickup.
