Wheels, battery, key, whether it starts and drives, the catalytic converter, and the rest — the same checklist our buyer verifies in person, so the offer is built on the car you actually have.
We review every application by hand and send one offer, guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description. Accept it and pickup is free anywhere in San Diego County.
We buy the cars the big guys reject — but we are not a junk buyer. These fall outside this buying program, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time:
The 911 has been in continuous production since the 1965 model year, always with a rear-mounted flat-six. The original long-hood cars ran to 1973, followed by the G-series (1974-1989), 964 (1989-1994), and air-cooled 993 (1994-1998). Water cooling arrived with the 996 (1999-2005), then the 997 (2005-2012), 991 (2012-2019), and turbocharged-for-most 992 from 2020. Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet bodies appear in nearly every generation.
State the generation and engine clearly, because a 993, a 996, and a 992 sit in completely different buyer pools in San Diego. Service records, matching-numbers paperwork on classics, and documented engine work matter more than options on this model.
The intermediate shaft bearing on 1999-2008 water-cooled cars can fail with little warning and destroy the engine. Many cars have a documented retrofit bearing; without paperwork, buyers assume the risk is still there, and owners often sell rather than gamble on an engine.
Some 996 and 997 engines, especially the larger 3.8L versions, develop scored cylinder bores that cause oil consumption, ticking, and piston slap. A borescope is the only real check, and a rebuild is a five-figure job, so owners frequently sell instead of opening the motor.
Air-cooled engines up to 1998 commonly weep oil from valve covers, oil return tubes, and seals, and higher-mile engines wear valve guides and head studs. A proper top-end reseal is specialist work at specialist prices, which pushes many long-term owners toward a sale.
Water-cooled generations use plastic and aluminum pipes that crack and leak with heat cycles, and water pumps are a wear item on 991 and 992 cars. Because several pipes sit over the engine, labor dominates the bill and owners sell rather than authorize the teardown.
Every one of these is a condition answer on the form — report it and it is priced in from the start, never discovered at pickup.
High mileage alone does not disqualify a 911. If it starts, drives, and has a working key, report the mileage honestly in the form and we will price the whole car, not just the odometer.
Yes to both — name the lender or pick the title situation that matches yours in the form. Complicated paperwork is part of what we handle, and we explain the correct next step before scheduling.
We buy Porsche 911 vehicles across the 1965-2025 range we commonly see, and we will look at older ones case by case. Condition matters more than the year — a high-mileage 911 that starts, drives, and has a working key is exactly what the form is for.
In most cases, yes — that is a known 911 issue and it is priced into the offer from the condition answers you submit, not discovered at pickup. Describe it honestly and the offer already reflects it.
