The XT5 replaced the SRX for 2017 as Cadillac's midsize two-row luxury crossover, built on GM's C1 platform. Most use a 3.6L V6; a 2.0L turbo four became the base engine in later years, and front- or all-wheel drive was offered throughout. A styling and technology refresh arrived for 2020 with a nine-speed automatic replacing the eight-speed. It was Cadillac's best-selling model for much of its run before production ended after 2025.
Excellent condition matters on an XT5 in San Diego: state the engine and drive, confirm the panoramic roof and CUE screen work cleanly, and keep thermostat service paperwork if the job has been done — that repair is the first thing informed XT5 shoppers ask about.
XT5 thermostats are a reported failure, sticking open so the engine runs cold, the fan runs constantly, and steering assist messages can appear. The thermostat sits in the engine valley, making labor the bulk of the bill, and owners often sell rather than pay it.
Cadillac's CUE screens develop gel-layer bubbles, spiderweb cracking, and unresponsive or phantom touches as they age. A replacement screen or unit is a specialist job, and when the screen goes alongside other needs, owners of aging XT5s commonly decide to sell the crossover.
The large panoramic roof can leak at its drains and seals, staining headliners and reaching electronics, while its powered shade mechanism can fail. Tracing water paths and replacing trim is tedious, expensive work, which is why some owners sell after the first serious leak appears.
XT5s use an auxiliary battery strategy for start-stop, and weak batteries produce warning messages, disabled features, and no-start complaints that mimic bigger faults. Repeated electrical diagnoses frustrate owners, and a crossover that keeps lighting its dashboard is frequently sold instead of chased further.
Every one of these is a condition answer on the form — report it and it is priced in from the start, never discovered at pickup.
Battery, glass, panels, and exterior damage from the 12-point checklist — each priced in plainly.
Sedans, SUVs, and vans from any maker, clean or with fixable issues.
Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru hold up in Southern California, and we price them that way.
Pickups are the top of our want list — working trucks, high-mileage trucks, Japanese trucks included.
We buy the cars the big guys reject — but we are not a junk buyer. These fall outside this buying program, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time:
Yes. Smog failure is one of the 12 condition answers, so the offer accounts for it up front. You do not need to pay for diagnosis, repairs, or a retest before pickup.
In most cases, yes — that is a known XT5 issue and it is priced into the offer from the condition answers you submit, not discovered at pickup. Describe it honestly and the offer already reflects it.
Our buyer checks the VIN, title, mileage, and the same condition items you submitted for your XT5. If everything matches, you sign the transfer paperwork, receive payment, and hand over the keys — and the tow is free in San Diego County.
We buy Cadillac XT5 vehicles across the 2017–2025 range we commonly see, and we will look at older ones case by case. Condition matters more than the year — a high-mileage XT5 that starts, drives, and has a working key is exactly what the form is for.
